Spectacular Railroad
Vistas / Aspen Fall Foliage / Mesa Verde National Park
Day
1:
Westwards to Colorado
Head westwards through
Kansas with overnight in Lamar, Colorado.
Entertainment on board and time to get to know fellow
travelers.
Day 2:
Royal Gorge Railroad
Depart
for Canon City to ride the
Royal Gorge Railroad,
a 24 mile journey along the Arkansas River through the
mighty Royal Gorge where you will experience
breathtaking scenery of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.
Continue to Alamosa for overnight. (B)
Day
3:
Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad
Depart
for Antonito to board the
Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad.
The train crosses the borders of Colorado and New
Mexico over a dozen times. You will see the
spectacular Toltec Gorge of the Los Pinos as well as
the Cumbres Pass.
Lunch is included.
At the
end of the line in Chama, continue to Durango for
overnight. (B, L)
Day
4:
Mesa Verde National Park
Rising
high on a plateau,
Mesa Verde National Park
has more than 4,000 Ancestral Puebloan sites. One
magnificent cliff dwelling called “Cliff Palace” has
more than 200 separate rooms. Our interpretive guide
will explain the significance of these dwellings and
artifacts. Those who are able may hike to explore
some of the dwellings. Return to Durango. (B)
Day
5:
Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge
Railroad
The
Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge
runs about 45 miles through the Animas River Valley.
Time for shopping and sightseeing in the old mining
town of Silverton before continuing to Grand Junction
for overnight. (B)
Day 6:
Colorado National Monument, Vail
Tour
the
Colorado National Monument,
a national park. Enjoy the panoramas of the 23 mile
Rim Rock Drive. Continue east to Vail, a picturesque
Rocky Mountain ski town. Time for lunch and
shopping. Continue to Silverton for overnight. (B)
Day 7:
Georgetown Loop, Colorado Railroad Museum
Travel
the 95 foot high, 300 foot long trestle Devil’s Gate
High Bridge on the
Georgetown Loop train.
The trip takes an hour but the spectacular scenery and
awesome engineering feats to build these rails to
access the silver mines are not to be missed.
Continue to visit the
Colorado Railroad Museum
for insight on the history and significance of
railroading in Colorado. Continue eastwards into
Kansas. (B)
Day 8:
Travel Home
Our final day of our
fabulous railroads tour. Time to reminisce with your
friends about the experiences you’ve had, the grand
sights you’ve marveled and which Trump Tour you will
take next. Arrive home late afternoon. (B) |
